The Rohan Plains:

One of the compositions where I have perhaps expressed better melancholy, the deep sadness that sometimes a Tolkien reader feels.

Not the oppressive, violent sadness without hope, which the XX Century has got us used to, but a melancholy that, somehow “melt with joy” like the author himself wrote.

Baccador – First Draft:

The Lords of the Rings includes different landscapes that I would describe as dazzling in their beauty, and the Hobbit’s arrival in Tom Bombadil’s house is one of these.

Tolkien talks about Gandalf (or, better, makes Sam talking about him) as an “eye opener”, but the real “eye opener” is the writer who, through the story, hit us right in the heart. On the other hand, who didn’t fell for Baccador?

Spring in Lothlórien – Third Draft:

How many of us dream of an uncontaminated place, not corrupted by the world’s evil where to be in peace for a while in search of ourselves?
Beyond the easy rhetoric, a few writers – maybe none – have succeeded in drawing an “elvish” place like Lothlórien with such intensity. Even the successful portrayal in the Peter Jackson’s movies, is nothing else than distant echo.

In the piano, violin and cello versions, the composer makes us feel his anxiety through numerous notes, voices and backing voices, to give us somehow the magnificence of this place.
